Before Centurian Dimensional Stone was established and came to what it is now. Metheringham quarries were last used for the production of stone in the 1960s and ‘70s, when it was operated by RMC. It was bought in 1975 by Lee Johnstone’s father, Danny who was involved in road haulage and used it to park his lorries & trailers. He later turned the site into a car spares & recovery centre operating for over 20yrs, until the price of scrap metal fell in the mid 90s. Lee opened a night club on the site, with It quickly becoming known as one of the most popular rave venues in the Midlands, operating through the mid & late 90s and also seeing in the millenium with some of the worlds top DJs of the day working there. The venue also had the countrys only drive in cafe for motorbikers. |
